- In this ever expanding world of digital wonder it is still important to keep up with what's going on in the word of pen and paper. I am of course talking about books of a visual nature but should I ever feel compelled to pick up a worded novel over a graphic novel I will certainly let you know my thoughts. For the moment however rather than focusing on new releases Im going to be recommending and perhaps reminding you of some of those all time classics which no one with a creative interest should ever be without. This is by no means an in-depth review but to kick things off and may I suggest that you check out, if you haven't already 'Street sketchbook' by Thames & Hudson. Now you don't have to be into street art to appreciate this collection of work. With each flick of the page you drift into escapism with this unique insight into a private almost diary like world of imagination where artists have poured and at times spilt their thoughts and experiences onto the pages of their sketch books. Excitingly it has a very experimental and unperfected feel and you can't help reading into the meaning of these visuals like pictorial memoirs. Words as pictures may sound like a cop out but the depth in which you read into this is, very much like a novel is all based on the time that you spend with it. It is one of those treats that will give you something new every time you pick it up. So if a visual adventure sounds like something you were looking for then this little gem could prove to be just the ticket. p.s. did I mention that it was only £19.95!!! . . . unbelievable
